Zou Jiyan Chen Xuanshu Zhang Hanmin Breaking capacity of vacuum circuit breakers will be affected by dynamic vacuum pressure in their vacuum interrupters when the arc current is high. This paper sets up a dynamic vacuum model based on the processes of gas absorption and desorption of working surfaces in vacuum interrupters. Analysis of the effects of gas content and energy input of the contact on dynamic vacuum pressure are given by theoretic and experimental results. The demands in respect of contact material for development of higher current vacuum interrupters;and the vacuum deterioration when breaking high current frequently are discussed.
