The evlution of the planting system in Jiangsu province falls into two historical periods. We have appraised objectively the exprience of the development of the planting system. In this paper;it is pointed out there exist contradictions between grains and cottons in area;conflicts between usage and maintenance of the fields;lacks of the put-into in the farming. Furthermoce;a new planting system is advanced that can improve the farming condition;develop the intensive farming;combine the high yield of crops with diversified economy;put the fodders and forage grasses and the soil fertility raising crops into the plantation structure;establish a multiponent and multiharvest system that combines grains;forages and economic crops into a whole.
